Day 3-4: The race.
Hey Guys. Had a minor practice session Friday. Wasn't worth noting and Yesterday i was racing of course, so i couldn't make a entry. here's a recap.
Qualifying: First couple of laps were bad. First 2 inlaps resulted in spins and damage. 3rd in lap and flying lap attempt resulted in a 3:40. Fastest time yet and a 2nd place starting position.
Race start/ Hour 1: Great start. Very consistent pace running avg 3:41-42. Lead P2 Cars started pulling away but accidents on the exit of Ford Chicane forced them to take very long pitstops. We move into 1st in Class.
Hour 2: Spin at Porsche curves. Very minor damage. Loss of 1 mph on straights. several laps later i make a attempt at trying to pass a overzealous Porsche GT2 car in the same area and spin. He t-Bones me and we sustain heavy damage. Car begins to top out at only 169 mph and we make 2 different pitstops. One before the accident for fuel and tires and the repair one. Fall down to 2nd in class.
Hour 3: Just leading into hour 3, coming up the front strech and into the esses before dunlop bridge, i snag the rear on the apron and lose the car. Happened at about 140mph... Front nose panel lost and heavy rear end damage. Yet another lengthy pitstop and we are now last in the running order in our class by 2 minutes. The car handles atrociously and only maxing out at 166 mph on the straights. GT1 cars shove past us when they are a lap down and GT2 Cars challenge us on the straights. The track lighting is broken however and the race is restarted giving everyone a clean slate and will have 20 hours and 30 minutes remaining on the clock.
Hour 4: The race is restarted. Everyone gets off perfectly. lap 3 (really lap 40ish something) ends badly for Audi and Pug. Both crash out, next lap later, Zytek crashes out. We learn from mistakes and keep the foot planted albeit conservatively and make it through the hour unscathed.
Hour 5: Heading into the Ford Chicanes, and ballsy Aston Martin GT1 bumps into us giving us minor damage. Monitoring the situation a lap and a half later, first reports of no speed loss are overruled. Near the end of the hour, we spin under dunlop bridge and gain minor rear quarter panel damage. Despite the loss of 2 mph, i set a record time for the team. 3:39 Sitting in 3rd place and playing catch-up to 1st and 2nd.
Hour 6: After driving for about 5 total hours. I take a well need breather and give my mate 2 more stints while i eat up. 2 seconds off my pace, but holding up. We get passed for 1st and never regain it back other than by pitstops.
Hour 7: A foolish error on my part. On reds (highly worn tires) i enter the esses under dunlop too fast and pressed by 2nd in our class and spin. 2nd place passes us into 1st and i give chase only to spin yet again going into tetre rouge. Heavy rear end damage. Rear suspension bent and we have to crawl 7 miles back to the pits. My last stint for a couple of hours.
Hour 8: I monitor my mate drive and scour the rest of the field to see how they are doing. 4th and 5th place in our class are 3 laps back still after all the incidents earlier so they are not a threat. I fall asleep.
Hour 9: Asleep. possibly front end damage caused during this period
Hour 10: Asleep. possibly front end damage caused during this period.
Hour 11: I wake up and find that our driver has passed 2nd place and our sister Acura who was in 2nd is a lap down. Near the end of the hour i take the reins yet again.
Hour 12: The car handles horrifically. Grip level is near zero even with TC on. Pitstop is made and the car is back to normal. Still slow on straights getting 170 instead of 179 like lead p2's. Nearing the end of the hour, i lose it into indy and smash into the guardrail. Heavy frontal damage. I limp back to pits and switch over to my teammate. He would drive on for the rest of the rest.
Hour 13-16: Asleep. I wake up with 9 hours and 40 minutes remaining to see "Runtime error, program must be terminated". All the hard work and practice gone. I'm not devastated, angry, depressed (maybe a little after Peugeot not winning the real thing).
It was a great experience i think. Fun racing and i had a blast during the good times of the race. Can only attack the moment with a "We'll be back next year hopefully". So far my original 24 Hours of Le mans with Sports Car GT still stands as my only fully completed Endurance Race that was in sync with the real thing. Yes i'm saddened heavily. I DNF'd in a well prepared race not because of my car, but because of technical difficulties. With all the mishaps that have overtaken us within 15 hours alone, finishing the race alone would have been excellent no matter what position.
But i couldn't have that. Not only did i DNF, but my beloved Peugeots failed to defeat a lone Audi 3 strong at the real event this afternoon in France despite having blocking maneuvers placed on the lone Audi by the peugeots several times. I felt like crying along with the team, but simply shuddered back into my chair and remembered that the 24 Hours of Nordsclife. May take part in it, may not. It's in the air as of right now. Would take weeks to prepare for as it's a 16 mile massive track consisting of mostly blind turns, sweeping bends and tight areas.
I took today's losses heavily, hope i get through okay. peace.

Day 2: Darkness.
Well today i didn't do much in terms of preperation other than setup testing for a few laps in qualifying testing and then a 2 hour stint at night to ready me for nighttime racing in drowsy conditions. Needless to say, it's TOUGH. My arms were on fire and the darkness lining my headlights was messing with my sleepy head.
However the test went absolutely AMAZING. In 2 hours i only managed to spin once because of an accident underneath Dunlop bridge and a car's hood was in the road and have a stunning off down at the first chicane on muslanne. I was about 5 car lengths behind a GT2 Porsche and i though i could outbrake it easily. I did and managed to get past, but locked up the brakes and skitted inches from the tire barrier and onto the runoff road. Probably the most hair raising experience of the test and for the remainder of the hour i stayed alert and cautious.
The Field behind me. Im in 4th place behind Pug, Audi, and a Dome closed cockpit P1 car. Green car is my teammate's car. Not in driver, but as in sister car. The diagram on the right is my tire chart. I'm usually on it 90% of the time monitoring my tires and fuel. Any other time i'm checking my avg laptimes and rarely the distance between me and cars as i'm more focused on just driving rather "racing".
I will tell you this. The place is dark, but in game it's not as dark as real life, but still pretty dark. One particular place had me on nails whenever i was on old tires. This is not far down the road after "Indianapolis Corner". Well not far in P2 or P1's time frame and rate of speed :D
About 4 seconds later and running in pure darkness (well not pure in game), you come up on this corner which is where i've had the most bad luck in my past. Daytime and Night. Half of it is going in too fast and braking at the wrong time. Look at my speed below the huge blue 6. Thats a 171 mph and by the time i get halfway around the corner, i'll be traveling at about 150. On 10 Lap tires, it's a harrowing experience.
Me running the paces down the strech for another dark dark lap around the Legendary 8 mile circuit. Ignore the stats you see. I had just pitted the lap before and let the AI drive so i can see what has happened over the course of 2 hours. The stats you see are from another car that had crashed out hence the 2 laps done and 38th rank.
Had fun today. looking forward to tomorrow. Bye

Day 1: Practice
Hey guys. Going to start updating you guys on my new Adventure. Le mans...
Ever since 2004, i've been making attempts at racing alongside major endurance races such as Sebring, Le mans, Daytona and only once did i make it completely through the entire race... and that was my very first event.
Here's a recap of all the events i've attempted so far and why they failed as well as the game used in parenthesis
2005: 24 Hours of Le Mans (Sports car GT) Completed. Finished 7th overall, 2nd in class
2006: No races run
2007: 24 Hours of Le Mans (rfactor) DNF Lap 25 roughly 2 hours into race. Collision with another car upon entering Muslanne. Extensive Aero damage combined with high speed braking into 1st chicane sent doomed car into wall HARD.
Petit Le Mans 10 hours (GTR 2) DNF Lap 50 roughly a Hour into race. Underestimated car's airborne capabilities underneath Suzuki bridge. Lost grip, over corrected right into main straight's outer wall.
2008: Daytona 24 Hours (rfactor) DNF Lap unknown roughly 8 hours into race. Lack of attention paid to the road. Missed braking zone by several feet and crashed into wall near tri-oval entry. If applied handbrake, could have missed wall if not cause minor damage.
Sebring 12 Hours (rfactor) DNF Lap unknown Roughly 10 and a half hours into race. Accidentally pressed "restart race" button. Was en route to completing first enduro in 3 years. Great experience and farthest ever gone to date.
24 Hours of Le Mans (rfactor) DNF lap unknown roughly 8 and a half hours into race. Was plagued with issues ever since a collision 2 hours before. Car began to have heating issues and finally the engine bit the dust 3 miles from pitlane. Was leading class and 9th overall. However there were only about 12 other cars running at the time. Horrible mod choice.
2009: Spa 24 Hours (rfactor) DNF Lap 69 and Unknown time. I did a double stint keeping us in the top 10 majority of the race before heading out to the local cyber cafe. Come back at around 10 pm est time roughly 9 hours into race and find that the car is dnf'd. I let the AI drive...
Britcar 24 Hours (rfactor) DNF lap 30 Roughly Hour and a half into race. Collision with lower class car.No races run
2010:
Petit Le Mans 10 hours (rfactor) DNF Lap 23 Roughly 30 Minutes into race. Was streaming the race live when rfactor alt-tabbed and crashed. Wasn't too prepared for the race to begin with.
That brings me to present time. I'll be driving the Acura P2 ARX car with the XM satellite Livery. practice has been going excellent and with my years of experience, i've been showing MASSIVE amounts of promising results to come this weekend. So far i've been churning 3:43 lap times on my conserve mode and 3:40's on catch up/race mode. Minimal mistakes were made this morning's 2 hour stint practice as i made it through with no body damage, 3rd overall and 1st in class. However the competition will be stiff come race day as i'll be joined by at least 6 or 7 other P2 cars and p1 will be contested by a guaranteed 6 entries from Audi and Pug 3 cars respectively.
I've been practicing and looking for the right car to drive for nearly 2 months now as tackling a 24 hour race with you driving for at least 10 hours can take a mental and physical toll your body even virtually. You want a car that feels great not only in the early hours of the race, but that can stay consistent at night and make you feel secure. A car that can sprint to the finish when it's needed ain't so bad either. I've toyed with the though of keeping the usual Corvette tradition that i've kept since 2008, but consider Pug is my all-time fav Le Mans manufacture/team, i turned so odd 50 laps with the 908 and felt that i didn't want to be in the p1 Cars just yet. I also though about using the GT2 Corvette. However it IS fun to drive and i feel comfortable in it for hours at a time, but it's understeery and harsh on tires and that's something i don't want to deal with for 10 hours. Only a couple of days ago did i try the Acura and i can say it's probably going to be my mainstay enduro car. Once i complete Le mans... Roll on Petit Le Mans
Here's a fun fact to end it. in 2004 I completed the Petit Le Mans. However it wasn't alongside the actual race and done on Console using 24 Hours of Le Mans PS2 game. Good thing for AI control because my father was moaning at me to clean my room mid-race.

Fifty 50 Chance.
Well. IT won't be long till i move to Dover, Delaware. I just learned that there IS a greyhound station nearby and that a bus route is available to use. More good news is that my chances of finding a job once there is pretty high. With that said, i can't wait to really move. I'll be farther from friends and basically unreachable in person until i get a car (Still hunting for a S13 or a FC).
Rocky relationship is still rocky and dysfunctional even more after the failed visit again, but who knows what will happen when i move. technically i'm moving about 100+ Miles farther away which pushes the distance a little over 1k Miles. Sheesh.
Been up all night and just had a bowl of cereal. Night night or good mornin
